Tools of my craft and how they’ve help me over the years

In My Bag

My photo equipment is very important to me and I always try to have it on me and ready to capture that unique moment. My first full frame camera was a Canon 6D that I used regularly with a 24-105 mm lens. It was perfect for capturing fast paced moving. It was extremely versatile in any lighting situation. This camera/lens combo allowed me a lot of flexibility to switch between wide angle cityscape scenes and the ability to zoom into street portraits that focused on an individual. To capture a different perspective, I also used a Samyang 14mm /2.8 for fish eye angles.

After experimenting with a friend’s camera and falling in love with the image details, I eventually moved to a Sony A7iii. After speaking with a mentor, I incorporated a prime lens to this camera instead of a zoom. This transition allows me to consider my shooting position in relationship to my subject matter. Since then, I have obtained a 24mm, 50 mm and a 85mm and included these gems in my work. My goal is to expand this useful collection.

The most constant and familiar camera that I work with is always the one in my pocket. I begin most of my work on my iPhone. I’ve grown in my craft and have learned how to be versatile and comfortable using my iPhone. Many of the basics, whether it is capturing a photo or editing, comes from practicing on this device. In many ways, it is the most useful tool I possess.
